Osmos has been getting iPad users excited for a while now. Although excited may not be quite the right word, given the trippy ambient nature of the game.
It’s a physics-based game where you have to grow your ‘mote’ by absorbing others, propelling yourself around the screen by ejecting matter behind you – which, by the way, makes you get a bit smaller, so has to be carefully managed. All this is accompanied by relaxing music, while the visuals are beautiful.
Anyway, the game has just come out for iPhone, which should get it the wider audience it deserves. It’s been fully optimised for iPhone 4’s Retina Display too, to ensure it looks just as good on the smaller screen. It’s a far cry from fast-paced shoot ’em ups, but that’s its appeal.
