HP Envy X2 is a super-slim, super-speedy Windows detachable

The new HP Envy X2 2-in-1 Windows device offers Gigabit LTE speeds and fantastic battery life, packed inside a crazy thin aluminium frame.

We’ve played with quite a few Windows 2-in-1 devices in 2017, from the Lenovo Yoga Book to the Microsoft Surface Pro. The convenience of having a very slim and light tablet running full Windows 10, which can convert into a laptop-style device thanks to a snap-on keyboard, is definitely a major plus for anyone who regularly hits the road.

HP’s Envy X2 already looks like one of the best 2-in-1 Windows machines of 2018, thanks to its use of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset rather than an Intel processor.

HP Envy X2 specs

This Snapdragon can already be found in a host of premium smartphones, including the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 and HTC U11. It’s powerful enough to happily handle multi-tasking with apps, streaming of Ultra HD video and gaming, while its connectivity chops are even more impressive.

That X16 LTE modem allows for up to Gigabit LTE speeds when you jump online using a SIM card. The HP Envy X2 should therefore be future-proof when it comes to streaming your media and online tasks, even when you’re roaming.

Another benefit of the Snapdragon 835 platform is its energy efficiency. HP reckons you’ll get up to 20 hours of battery life from a single charge, so the Envy should be well suited for any travellers who need to stay productive (or who simply want to blast through a Netflix boxset on the go).

The Snapdragon is backed by a healthy 8GB of RAM (in the more premium model), as well as up to 256GB of storage space.

All of these smarts are packed inside a very slim and light frame, thanks again to the general efficiency of the platform. The good-looking aluminium chassis is just 6.9mm thin and weighs 700g. Considerably less than many laptops and comparable to many other premium 2-in-1 devices. Despite the slender design you’ll find a spacious 12.3-inch touchscreen, which can be used with a stylus pen for more creative tasks.
