Samsung isn’t the only OEM cooking up a new mid-range device as part of its 2013 lineup. HTC may also be working on a handset that will complement the HTC One, currently codenamed the HTC 608t. Details of the phone emerged on Chinese social networking site Weibo late last week, leaking the supposed specs that consumers can look forward too.
Specifications for the device are said to include a 4.5-inch 960×540 display, along with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 quad-core processor clocked at 1.4Ghz, 1GB of RAM, and an 8-megapixel camera. The device is said to be running Android Jelly Bean 4.2, and as per HTC’s other phones, Beats Audio is onboard.
It looks like this is a phone destined for China right now, but we imagine that HTC will bring something similar – if not identical – to the UK in due course. Having said that, the company already has plans to bring the HTC First to our shores this summer. That may be a better option for those who lust after the stock Android experience hidden beneath Facebook Home. The HTC First also has a higher pixel density, as the handset has a 4.3-inch 1280×720 display.
There’s no word just yet on when we may see the HTC 608t released, but given the impending release of Samsung’s own mid-range device for 2013, we imagine it will be sooner rather than later.
