HTC Desire S coming in April from O2

The latest HTC Desire member, the S, has appeared on O2’s coming soon site, stating a not-so vague April 2011 release.

The Desire S looks to be the only phone O2 have chosen to stock from HTC’s newest range of phones. You’ll have to look elsewhere for HTC’s ChaCha, Incredible S or Wildfire S- or fork out the money upfront for a SIM-free model.

The Desire S will have the latest version of Google’s Android, Gingerbread (2.3) inside an aluminium unibody frame, with rear and front-facing cameras, the latter making video-calls very much possible.

There are other more complicated processor and memory tweaks to improve app loading and web browsing speed. (We’re keeping a beady eye on battery-life.)

An April release matches the SIM-free version spotted on Amazon UK, and means there’s just one more month to wait until you get to see how it compares with the other Desire family members.

Looks like we’ll be waiting until midway through March for a review model. More on the Desire S when we do.
