HTC One S video and first impressions

We’re in the throws of our HTC One S review and it’s looking very promising, that said, we’re not publishing yet. No, first we’re giving you a quick hands-on video with first impressions to whet your appetites and wrap up this good Friday.

A couple of days ago, we opened a non-descript, white HTC box, nothing out of the ordinary but inside was a One S. As soon as we felt it, we knew we had something special in our hands. We don’t tend to do previews but the One S is shaping up to be a phone that calls for attention. From the innards with its dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor, 4.3-inch qHD AMOLED display and 16GB of internal memory to its exterior, it just screams “I’m solid, touch me, want me” – and we do.

The rich screen creeps around the sides of the unibody which makes way for micro-drilled holes and red accents beautifully. The AMOLED display suffers a bit from the polka dot pixel look we’ve seen in the likes of the Motorola RAZR, though not to the same extent and the overall feel of the phone glass helps make up for this. As for an overall impression – metal rigidity with a soft-touch feel – high five HTC, we think you’ve cracked it.

Swooshing round the UI and Sense 4.0 performs identically to that of the HTC One X – not a slow-down in sight. Whether this proves to be the case over the Easter weekend remains to be seen but this hands on preview has certainly left us wanting more swooshing, more soft-touch back and a lot more HTC One S.

Enjoy the hands-on video below, enjoy the long weekend and if you’ve got any questions, fire us a comment, tweet, Facebook message or email.
