Industry paper Digitimes yet again stokes the rumour fires with reports that HTC is planning an “Android-based tablet PC” that’s running on Nvidia’s quad-core Tegra 3/Kal-El CPU.
The big reveal is apparently due to happen during Mobile World Congress 2012 in Barcelona and chimes with the earlier report from Reuters that we heard last week.
But do two rumours make a right? HTC flat out refused to deny or confirm existence of such a device with a “no comment on rumour and speculation” when we spoke to them.
Also rumoured are “two new Android phones” that again tallies with earlier rumours/leaks of the HTC Ville and HTC Edge phones. Digitimes quotes a Commercial Times report saying that both of these phones will feature Nvidia four-core CPU’s, contradicting what we’ve heard about the HTC Ville so far; that phone is rumoured to come with a dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 chip.
An HTC phone with Kal-El on board or any kind of powerful GPU ought to be perfect for playing console-quality titles downloaded via OnLive, the service which of course will be powering HTC’s games hub.
