HTC Sensation XE Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich HTC Sense 3.6 update hitting Germany

We’ve already got to have a bit of early hands-on time with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich on the HTC Sensation XE. Now it looks like the official over the air update might be rolling out to Sensation XE’s now.

Germany-based HTC site HTCInside.de is reporting that the update to 4.0 and Sense 3.6 is hitting the airwaves right now, ahead of any official announcement.

The people at HTCInside excited exclaim (via Google Translate):

“It’s time! Finally the wait is over! Effective immediately, the Android 4.0 update IceCream Sandwich, which also includes HTC Sense 3.6, the HTC Sensation and HTC Sensation XE officially delivered! Our sensation XE has just received the update message. The package is being downloaded and installed. Once it is on it, there is more information later and possibly even a video!”

The update is apparently pretty big (for the Sensation XE at least) weighing in at 283.27MB and is best downloaded over Wi-Fi. HTCInside is recommending that you head to Settings > Phone Info > Software Updates yourself to manually check.

We’ve heard nothing about updates rolling out in the UK from HTC’s Facebook page (a regular source of update info) the official channels, or any of our sources. Normally we hear something from the UK networks regarding imminent update rollout and there’s been nothing to report thus far.

Still, this makes us hopeful that the ICS and Sense 3.6 updates are coming; check out our hands-on with an early HTC Sensation XE to get a glimpse and hit that XDA link if you really really can’t wait.
