HTC is shutting down its online backup services at HTCSense.com as it gets the builders in to do some major works on the site.
HTCSense.com “is undergoing a renovation to improve the services and value” the company said in a statement to users.
The end date is 30 April 2012 and HTC has warned users that their data won’t automatically transfer over to the new system.
It urges anyone who has backed up their contacts, call history, messages or geotagged photos to download them before that deadline or have them wiped from the system.
“If you have been using HTCSense.com to sync your Contacts, Messages, Footprints or Call History, you can download your data through April 30, 2012. After April 30, your data will no longer be accessible and will be deleted,” the official HTC statement said.
Information can be downloaded as a zip file by following these instructions:
1) Visit http://htcsense.com and log in with your username and password.
2) Click the ‘Download’ button in the Account Overview section.
3) A .zip file containing your data downloads to your computer.
If the promises made in a letter to users are true then this isn’t the end for the HTCSense cloud services.
“We apologise for any inconvenience. You’ll be among the first to know when the new and improved services are ready,” a letter sent to users continued.
