Word of HTC’s tablet intentions for 2012 come to us from Reuters, who quote HTC CEO Peter Chou saying; “[the tablet market is a] market we would like to try and test, to see whether we can make ourselves stand out and prevent a me-too product.”
The HTC Flyer with its active stylus, on-demand movies and white plastic shell (standing out from the black and grey bores) certainly wasn’t a me-too product. Then again, we’ve not seen much in the way of Honeycomb from HTC at least here in the UK.
Given HTC’s Ice Cream Sandwich plans for 2012 we’re very much expecting this unnamed tablet, which Reuters has pegged for a February ETA, will come running Android 4.0 too.
February of course is when Mobile World Congress 2012 will kick off, so we’d expect HTC to be showing off the goods there anyway.
We’ve approached HTC in the UK for a comment and are waiting to hear back.
