Huawei Ascend P1 unboxing video

It’s been a busy old day of unboxing here at Recombu. Not only have we lifted the lid on the second most hotly anticipated tablet of July, the Asus Transformer Pad Infinity, we’ve also taken a tour of the Sony Xperia Go box and will be showing you some Samsung Galaxy Ace 2 in a matter of hours. Now though, it’s all about the Huawei Ascend P1, the super skinny plastic smartphone showcased earlier this year at CES. It impressed us by combining style, power and Ice Cream Sandwich way back in January.

Speaking of style, the Huawei Ascend P1 is a mind-bogglingly skinny 7.8mm. It battled head on with the Fujitsu Arrow for the title of world’s thinnest smartphone way back in January and won, however has since been superceded by the OPPO Finder. It does pack a wollop in terms of specs with its 1.5GHz dual-core processor, competing head-on with the HTC One S. Also like the HTC One S the Huawei Ascend P1 has a qHD AMOLED display that comes in at 4.3-inches. This makes it high end and powerful without being quad-core, suggesting a reasonable price and decent battery life from the 1670 mAh cell on board.

There are some things that stick out from the offset about the Huawei Ascend P1, not least of all the stock-ness of the Ice Cream Sandwich. The UI is much more less heavily skinned than the other Huawei devices we’ve seen running Gingerbread such as the Ascend G300 and Ascend Y100 and this could suggest that the geniuses over at Huawei HQ have seen the light and recognise that Ice Cream Sandwich is actually something pretty special standalone.
