Huawei lets fans set their own price for the new Honor Holly

Huawei is letting its users set the price for its latest great-value Honor smartphone, the Honor Holly, which rocks HD visuals and an 8-meg snapper.

Huawei’s fresh new Honor range is already 100 days old, and so far we’re impressed. The Honor 6 was a great flag-waving device for the range, which is aimed at digitally savvy consumers – it was nippy, boasted a dependable 13-meg camera and a bright, sharp Full HD screen.

Now the third Honor handset has launched here in the UK. The Huawei Honor Holly (check here for our full review) offers slightly more tame specs than the Honor 6, but still shows plenty of promise, with the standard-for-the-brand 5-inch IPS screen sporting 720p HD visuals.

But most interesting is the price. Huawei is letting its pre-order fans set the cost of the handset, via its website – although you can’t just head over and say “I’ll have it for a quid, cheers.” Rather, the more users that register interest in the Holly, the cheaper the handset will finally be.

You have from February 6th to the 23rd to get yourself over to the website and register and we’re hoping that the final cost of the phone will be around the £100 mark or less, which will make it a serious competitor for the likes of Motorola’s Moto G.

What are the other specs of the Honor Holly?

Android 4.4 KitKat has once again received a tinkering on the Honor Holly, with Huawei’s typically bright and bold visuals caked over the more austere Google effort. There’s plenty of cool features packed away, including the ability to run apps side-by-side, a range of customisable themes and plenty of shortcuts to your most-needed settings.

Of course, you’re also lumbered with having all of your app shortcuts stuck there on your desktops, with no option to hide them away in an apps tray.

A quad-core 1.3GHz processor powers the Huawei Honor Holly, while a 2,000mAh battery brings it to life. The 16GB of storage can be boosted via a microSD slot too, something Motorola thankfully added into its Moto G handset last year – and that’s the handset that we’ll be comparing the Holly to.

You also get an 8-megapixel f/2.0 aperture camera, which can apparently take good low light photos as well as shoot DFull HD video – we’ll be testing both out for our full review.

And finishing off the specs is a 2-megapixel front-facing snapper.

When will the Huawei Honor Holly hit the UK, and how much?

The Huawei Honor Holly will be available in the UK from February 23rd, and of course the price wil be announced after the February 23rd deadline.
