Huzzah! A Spotify app is finally heading to BlackBerry phones

Finally, some good news for BlackBerry owners who had naught but doom and gloom last week.

Spotify has announced over on its blog that its working on a BlackBerry app that’ll give you access to its vast library of online musics. Even better, there’s a preview version of the app that you’re able to test out on select BlackBerry phones right now.

Only available to phones on GSM networks (that’s us in the UK and Europe), Spotify has tested its app on the BlackBerry Bold 9780, Bold 9700 and Bold 9000 and the Curve 9300 and Curve 8520. Spotify says that app doesn’t yet work on the Torch 9800 or CDMA-network phones. Tough luck America – you can’t always get the cool stuff first.

If you want to have a go at trying out the app for yourself, click the link below on your BlackBerry phone’s web browser.

You’ll need to have a Spotify Premium subscription in order for the app to work; this costs £9.99 a month.

We’ll be trying this out as soon as we can on our BlackBerry; we don’t have any of the phones mentioned above to hand at the moment, but if we can get it working on another device, we’ll let you know.

Spotify is encouraging anyone who tries the app out to post their findings in this thread.
