Ice Cream Sandwich re-confirmed for Sony Ericsson’s Xperia 2011 line up

Looks like Ice Cream Sandwich is back on the menu for Sony Ericsson’s 2011 Xperia phones. This time it’s all official and straight from the Norse’s mouth, by way of Sony Ericsson’s Product Blog.

“There have been a few questions here on the blog and in our support forums regarding our upgrade plans beyond Gingerbread. We can today confirm that we plan to upgrade the entire 2011 Xperia portfolio to the next version of Android known as Android 4.0 or Ice Cream Sandwich,” says Martina Johansson.

To reiterate, this includes the Xperia Arc and Xperia Arc S,

the Xperia Play and both the Xperia Neo and the Xperia Neo V. Also due to get a big scoop of Ice Cream is the Xperia Mini and Xperia Mini Pro, the Xperia Pro and the more recent Xperia Ray, Xperia Active.

Got all that?

Even the non-Xperia Live with Walkman music phone is getting some Ice Cream attention. Great news from Sony Ericsson, and good to see that Android 4.0 will work on phones from the lower end of the spectrum.

We’ve asked Sony Ericsson for some indication on which phones will be getting Ice Cream Sandwich and when; hopefully we’ll have some more information for you soon. Now, off to dutifully update our epic Ice Cream Sandwich timetable…
