Parodies of Apple’s often saccharine TV adverts are not new, but this genius spoof from Ikea really hits the mark.
Made to promote Ikea’s latest catalogue, chief design guru Jörgen Eghammer talks us through a hands on demo of the paper book or ‘Book Book’ as he calls it.
The catalogue’s dimensions are described in a manner similar to how Apple, or even a tech site like Recombu (how DARE you Ikea?!) would talk about a new iProduct.
“The interface is 7.5 by 8 inches but can expand to 15 by 8 inches,” Eghammer says glowingly.
Perhaps taking a poke at e-reader devices like Amazon’s Kindles for good measure, Eghammer says that the 2015 Ikea catalogue comes with no cables and excellent battery life. In fact, the battery lasts forever.
Pricing and UK availability for the 2015 Ikea catalogue has not yet been confirmed. Links on the YouTube video take you to Facebook pages for Malaysia and Singapore, so we’re not holding our breath for a UK release.
We’ve reached out to EE, O2, Vodafone and Three to see if they’re going to stock it and we’re waiting to hear back.
