The long awaited support for in-app payments have finally arrived on Android. This means we can finally purchase Lady Gaga tracks on Tap Tap Revenge! Yes! #life=completerightnow #winning
You pay for in-app stuff in the same way that you’d buy apps from the Android Market. In other words, the payment will be charged to your Google Account. Simply tap the appropriate link within the app, and you’ll be taken to a section of the Market. You’ll see the payment displayed in the same was as normal.
As well as Tap Tap Revenge, popular games like Gun Bros and Dungeon Defender: First Wave also support in-app payments.
The former allows you to stock up on ‘war bucks’ (paid for with your real life money) and Dungeon Defender allows you to buy more mana, so you can summon more defensive traps for use in those trickier levels.
Other Android games supporting in-app payments include Deer Hunter Challenge HD, WSOP Hold’Em Legend by Glu Mobile. ComiXology’s Comics app, allows you to buy and read comics from publishers like DC Comics and Image, in the same way that you to with the DC Comics app for iPad.
No sign of Rovio’s Mighty Eagle just yet though. But in a recent email sent out to subscribers, Rovio said that it was still working on those SMS mobile payments in ‘various regions’, so expect to hear more news on that soon.
