iPad 2 gets its own Onion app- satire not veg

If you’ve never heard of The Onion, then what have you been doing on the internet all these years?

Internet comedy royalty has now arrived on the iPad, and in it’s own specially designed app.

It’s borrowed heavily from the design of other news apps , like what it did with its original website; and content ranges covers video, images and print.

You can scroll around the news content like you would other news apps, like CNN, while videos can be played with a touch, and expanded to full-screen.

The Onion typically covers anything mainstream news does- and some brilliantly trivial stuff that isn’t. Typical headlines at the moment include; “In Freak Accident, 34 Katherine Heigl Films Released At Once”, “Slow-Thinking Bystander Weighing Pros And Cons Of Pulling Man Out of River” and “Science Confirms Men and Women Never Meant to Be More Than Friends.”

The video content here is great quality; there’s a brief video with Ben Stiller doing a charity appeal for The Onion’s made-up appeals, and The Onion aren’t afraid to spend a bit of money on their news studio and infographics. The spirit of The Day Today lives on- just on the other side of the Atlantic.

The Onion is already available on the iPhone, and Android. Naturally, the tablet app was launched on 1st April- but everyday is a hoax with The Onion.
