Voice chat in multiplayer games isn’t a new thing: people have been
verbally abusing chatting while playing one another on Xbox Live for years. However, it’s something that’s only just coming to mobile and tablet gaming. Hidden object game Big City Adventure has brought the idea to iPad.
The full title is Big City Adventure – San Francisco HD. The hidden object genre is popular online, and involves spotting hundreds of objects hidden within bigger pictures. In this case, those pictures are of SF tourist spots like Alcatraz and the Golden Gate Bridge.
The big deal is the multiplayer mode though, which works locally over Bluetooth, or over the network via EDGE, 3G and Wi-Fi. And that’s where the voice chat comes in, letting you smack-talk your friends while, er, finding objects quicker than they do. Okay, so this kind of thing might be more suitable for more violent games like first-person shooters…
