Bored with the simple choice between black and white with the iPhone 5? The iPhone 5S could add some extra colour options for you to choose from. That’s if a report by Japanese site Macotakara is to be believed. According to the publication, Apple intends three new colours to its flagship smartphone on top of the current black and white options.
In addition, the site believes that Apple is pressing ahead with a budget-oriented iPhone, adding weight to the rumors of different colour options being made available. There’s no mention of exactly which colours Apple will use, but as 9to5Mac points out, it’s not difficult to image what the company has in mind. The current iPod touch, for instance, is available in blue, red, yellow, pink, black, and silver.
Macotakara goes on to say that the iPhone 5S will be announced sometime in July, with a release following in August. That backs up The Wall Street Journal’s report just a few days ago that stated the handset was due to enter production shortly for a release sometime in August.
Once again there’s no hint at what kind of updates the iPhone 5S will bring, but the iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4S both adopted faster processors as well as improved cameras. iMore’s Rene Ritchie has also previously indicated that Apple is looking to “raise the bar in terms of iPhone optics.” That wouldn’t come as much of a surprise given the cameras available on phones such as the Nokia Lumia 920 and HTC One.
