iPhoto for iPad: Photo editing tools and sharing options

Alongside iOS 5.1 and the new iPad, Apple has taken the wraps off of iPhoto for iPad. A new comprehensive photo editing suite for the iPad, this app lets you automatically enhance and fine tune pictures with a large degree of tools and settings.

With iPhoto for iPad you’ll have the option of taking out shadows, removing red eye, sharpening and softening with select tools applied to specific areas. Tapping to focus on an area allows you to get up close and make cosmetic adjustments.

Then there’s general effects and filters which can be applied to entire pictures. Along with the ability to reduce brightness and contrast you can apply Instagram-style saturation filters to everything as well. iPhoto for iPad looks easy to use, rich and powerful.

You can edit pictures shot on your iPad or pictures you’ve imported (up to 19 megapixels in size).

Pictures can be published to iCloud once you’re done tinkering and you’ve got the option to share to Facebook, Twitter and Flickr straight from the app.

Costing $4.99 (£3.15) iPhoto for iPad is available to download from the US App Store now – we’ve not seen it in the UK store just yet, we’ll keep checking.
