iPlayer now available on BlackBerry over Wi-Fi

Now you can catch up with your favourite BBC programs while looking like you’re studiously checking email thanks to the new BlackBerry-friendly BBC iPlayer web portal. Hot on the heels of the BBC’s announcement at Mobile World Congress that it will be releasing a range of smartphone apps for its online services, the free service gives quick and easy access to BBC TV and radio programming.

Compatible with most of RIM’s latest BlackBerry models, the free service allows UK users to catch up on BBC programmes from across its terrestrial channels, as well as access to the glut of BBC local and national radio stations. Similar to iPlayer on the iPhone, the service only works using Wi-Fi and not 3G.

The free app/shortcut is available now from here. [via TechDigest]
