You can’t go anywhere these days without tripping over someone pulling a duck-face into the front-facing camera of their smartphone, and Lenovo’s here to capitalise on that fact.
Like it or loathe it, the selfie is, without question, one of the most popular forms of self-expression in the digital age and Lenovo has just revealed a little accessory which is likely to make habitual selfie takers’ eyes light up – literally.
The Vibe Xtension Selfie Flash, which was unveiled by the Chinese manufacturer at CES yesterday, plugs into the headphone jack of your smartphone, and with the help of 8 LEDs brightens up your self-portraits.
The name ‘flash’ is a bit of a misnomer though, as the accessory doesn’t really flash at all. Rather it illuminates your kisser with a steady stream of white light, affording you the opportunity to ensure you’re looking your best before you snap the perfect selfie.
The accessory is intended to partner Lenovo’s new Vibe X2 smartphone, but users of other Android devices will be able to make use of it too, with the help of a handy companion app.
According to Lenovo the Vibe Extension Selfie Flash will take 100 shots on a single charge, so you need never pose in front of your open fridge or stalk around looking for the perfect illumination ever again.
We’re not sure whether the Selfie Flash will rock up on English soil quite yet, but with a recommended retail price of just $30, we hope it bloody well does, because we’re done looking bland in our vanity shots, it’s time to shine.
