There’s exciting news afoot for wearable tech enthusiasts as LG announces that its newest Android Wear device, the G Watch R, will be available throughout the UK and Europe within a matter of weeks.
The rest of the world won’t have too much longer to wait for its round G Watch action either, with North America, Asia and other key markets to receive the device shortly thereafter.
The device, which features a 1.3-inch circular P-OLED display, 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor with 4GB of storage and 512MB of RAM, aims to put the emphasis back onto watch design, with each model looking less like something you’d see on an episode of Star Trek and more like a traditional timepiece. Which is great news for anyone who’d rather keep their tech low-key.
LG G Watch R wearers will be able to choose from 6 pre-loaded faces and the watch is tougher than your average wearable, with IP67 certification, meaning that it’s dust and water-resistant for up to 30 minutes in a metre of water. You can also pair the G Watch R with any watch strap measuring 22mm, to change up its look whenever you like.
Dr. Jong-seok Park, president and CEO of LG said “While the original G Watch was designed to be a no-nonsense, pure Android Wear device, the G Watch R was developed with a more aesthetic eye. The G Watch R represents LG’s commitment to meld form and functionality together in perfect harmony and to create a device that not only looks great, but more importantly, offers technology that makes life more convenient.”
