If you’ve read our review of the LG Optimus 2X then you’ll know how taken we are with its fabulous 8-megapixel camera. Instead of just taking our word for it, have a look for yourself.
Here are 12 of our favourite snaps that we took on our LG Optimus 2X. We’ve tried to give you a good idea of what it’s capable of and what effects you can achieve with it.
They say a picture is worth 1,000 words. If that were true, it would mean I’ve effectively just written 12,000+ words here. If only Google’s page ranking algorithm worked that way.
All of these pictures were taken on the highest setting (8-megapixels) with everything set to auto (focus, ISO, white balance etc) unless otherwise stated. The picture above, taken at Goodge Street tube station, was taken with everything set to auto/normal.
The pictures were originally 3264 x 2448 in size, but we’ve reduced them to 630 x 473 here for space reasons.
Enjoy! And, if you’ve not already, please check our review of the LG Optimus 2X.
Tottenham Court Road (just outside Goodge Street station) taken using the Sepia filter on the LG Optimus 2X. This is exactly what London looked like a hundred years ago.
Two alpacas enjoying their lunch. Taken near the village of Mere, Wiltshire.
The exit of the old Highbury tube station, which was closed down in the sixties. It’s located across the road from where the current Highbury & Islington station is today.
Another shot of Goodge Street station, taken with the 2X’s Negative effect.
Interesting effects can be created with the Out-focusing Shot mode. This basically blurs everything in the foreground, leaving a clear, in-focus area in the centre of the shot.
A can of fizzy pop, taken with the 2X’s Posterize effect.
The Art Shot mode takes a picture with a warm, cold or black and white filter and adds a vignette effect around the edges. The picture above was taken with the ‘warm’ setting.
The Emboss effect picks up and raises the smallest details, like Tom’s horrible four days’ worth of beard growth. He really needs to have a shave.
The macro focus on the LG Optimus 2X really impressed us. It allowed us to get super close to this beetle. We spotted this iridescent little chap wandering around in Tom’s parent’s garden.
Some firey tulips taken in the gardens of Stourhead, Wiltshire. Sadly, we’ve no idea what type of tulip these are. Any tulip experts out there?
A close-up of one of the flowering tulips, taken with the Optimus 2X’s macro. Pretty nice right?
