Clove is now selling the LG Prada 3.0 for a reassuringly expensive £429.99 including VAT. Though the Prada 3.0 can be snapped up now, the first lot of stock won’t arrive until Monday the 6th of February.
As you’d expect from a collaboration with one of the world’s leading fashion institutions, design and style was very much at the forefront. That’s not to say that it’s all trousers and no mouth; there’s a 1GHz dual-core chip (Texas Instruments’ OMAP 4430) and 1GB of RAM chugging away under that Saffiano leather-esque exterior.
The main camera is an 8-megapixel affair with auto focus and LED flash and the large 4.3-inch NOVA display screen comes with 800 nits of brightness.
The interface is pretty much vanilla Android 2.3 Gingerbread in terms of function. But it’s been given a sexy new haircut and kitted out in a made-to-measure black suit with glowing white accents. We particularly liked the ability for you to swap default Android app icons for a number of custom icons more in keeping with the Prada 3.0’s decor.
£1 more than an iPhone 4
£429.99 all in puts the Prada 3.0, which has 8GB of storage, on the same/similar price level as an 8GB iPhone 4.
The LG Prada 3.0 is definitely the more styled of the two devices, but that’s not to say that the iPhone 4 is bad looking either.
The Prada 3.0’s screen is bigger and brighter too. We’ve found that NOVA-type screens do have some advantages over the iPhone 4’s Retina Display and feel that those 800 nits will count for a lot.
That said, the Prada 3.0’s 4.3-inch screen has a resolution of 800 x 480 (WVGA) compared to the iPhone 4’s 3.5-inch 960 x 640 screen. A higher res and PPI also counts for a lot as well…
We’re still waiting to pick up our LG Prada 3.0 review unit, so stay tuned for that plus a direct blow-by-blow comparison of the two phones in a Recombu steel cage deathmatch.
