Lumia 640 and 640 XL UK price and release date announced

British fans of Windows Phone can grab Microsoft’s latest Lumia phones, the Lumia 640 and the Lumia 640 XL, this month from just £99.

The Lumia 640 is actually available to buy right now, for £99 SIM-free or from £15.50 a month on contract. Dixons Carphone, EE, O2, Vodafone, Three, Amazon, Tesco Mobile and Virgin Mobile will all be stocking it, but you’ll need to visit Dixons if you want the exclusive white model.

You’ll have to wait a little longer for the Lumia 640 XL, which sadly doesn’t hit the UK until the end of April. It’ll start from £219 SIM-free, but there’s no word on tariff pricing just yet.

The beastly 5.7-inch Lumia 640 XL is the first Windows phablet we’ve seen in a while and it certainly packs some impressive specs considering the affordable price, including a 13-megapixel snapper. Check out our full Lumia 640 XL hands-on review, complete with a video of our play time at MWC 2015.

If you don’t fancy such a mammoth handset, check out our Lumia 640 hands-on review instead. This 5-incher may cost just a hundred quid but it boasts a sharp and vibrant 720p screen and capable 8-megapixel camera.

We’ve picked up our review models of both phones so check back soon for our full reviews.
