Lyric Legend iPhone game tests your knowledge of song lyrics

Most rhythm games focus purely on music, but new iPhone game Lyric Legend has a new angle: it’s as much about the lyrics. Well, the name gave that away.

Released by music startup TuneWiki, it gets you to tap glowing orbs in time to a selection of songs, but the twist is that each orb has a word on. The better you know the words to a song, the higher your score.

The game is free to download, and has three songs preloaded from Vampire Weekend, The All-American Rejects and Metric. Don’t worry if you’re not up on their lyrics though: more than 60 other songs are available to buy from the in-game store in 59p track packs – two songs per pack.

Artists covered include Rihanna, Coldplay, Kanye West, Queen, Miley Cyrus, the White Stripes and Taio Cruz among others. It’s like a wordier Tap Tap Revenge, with five difficulty levels and location-based high-score tables. You can even play against up to three friends via Bluetooth.
