It’s (nearly) Christmas time. There’s no need to be afraid. Well, unless you’ve been out on the lash at a Christmas do, have missed your last train or bus, and have no idea how to get home. Then you should be a little fearful, perhaps.
Or not. UK daily newspaper Metro has launched Metro CabFinder, an iPhone app that promises to find you a licensed taxi or cab nearby.
It’s a simple but effective app: it identifies your location, shows the nearest companies, and provides one-tap access to give them a call, using 03 numbers rather than premium-rate lines.
It works across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, and could be an essential download in the pre-Chrimbo party season. Although we’re still hoping someone will launch a location-based alarm app to wake us up two stops before home when we do manage to stagger onto a train, too…
