If you’ve seen Truckbot and its steroid-fuelled brother at NASA and fancied building something that requires a little less technical nous (and something with more of a down-to-earth price) then you’re in luck.
Lego has released the MINDdroid app, allowing you to control your Lego creations with your Android phone.
The MINDdroid app works with the Lego Mindstorms NXT set, which allows you to create all manner of walking taking rolling robotic devices and is free for Android 2.1+ phones. The app uses the motion sensors of your phone, allowing you to control the direction of your Lego-droids by tilting and turning the phone like a Wii-mote.
In all honesty, you’re much more likely to find a Mindstorms set under your Christmas tree this year than a Senseta rover.
This isn’t the first time we’ve seen a Lego/Android partnership in action; earlier this year we saw a Mindstorms creation solving a Rubik’s Cube in record-breaking times.
The MINDdroid app is available to download from the Market now. Sadly, no Lego is included.
