If you’ve been waiting patiently for the Modu 1 phone for the past two years, rejecting upgrade offers and refusing to be dazzled by the likes of the HTC Desire and the iPhone 4, then we have excellent news: it will soon be available to buy in the UK.
It’s a wee slip of a thing with a 1.3-inch OLED screen, with the record-breakingly low weight of just 40.1g. Small though it is, the Modu 1 can call and text, and has an MP3 player, Bluetooth and 2GB of storage available.
Basic, yes, but it’s intended as just one module in a whole ecosystem of devices. You’ll be able to add to the design and features with interchangeable cases (at £25 a pop!) – from fashion cases to a camera casing for example. Maybe this was exciting back in February 2008 when they first announced the handset, but it’s all a bit de rigeur now; you don’t need to buy multiple devices to enjoy these kinds of features.
Anyway, if you’re keen on the Modu 1, it’ll be available later this month from Purelygadgets for £129.99. Or you may want to hold out for the Modu T, a similarly tiny touchscreen handset slated for release in Q4.
