More PlayStation Phone rumours: Out in April and named Xperia Play?

Sony Ericsson is keeping firmly schtum on the topic of the much-rumoured PlayStation phone, but sources “close to the matter” have revealed to Pocket-Lint that the handset will be released in April 2011.

This would mean that the gaming handset would get its official reveal at mobile mecca Mobile World Congress in February ahead of its retail release, going against the rumours that Sony Ericsson would show it off at January’s CES show in Las Vegas.

As if that weren’t enough of a rumour-fest, Pocket Now is also mooting ‘Xperia Play’ as the handset’s name, in Europe at least. The eagle-eyed site has spoted a Sony Ericsson registered trademark in that name, whereas ‘PlayStation Phone’ remains free.

Either way, we look set to see a PlayStation handset in 2011, be it in January, February, March or April. Watch this space.
