Motolora Droid HD emerges, coming to UK as Milestone HD?

After the earth-shattering, game-changing news that Google plans to absorb Motorola Mobility, we’re half expecting the announcement of a Motorola Nexus device any day now.

Until then there’s phones like the Droid HD, a snapshot of which has recently been unearthed by Engadget.

Judging by the battery and signal icons up top it looks to be running on Android 2.3 Gingerbread, but with that being the primary Android smartphone OS right about now, you’d expect that wouldn’t you?

Aside from that, Engadget’s anonymous tipster is saying that the phone has a 4.5-inch screen with qHD resolution (yikes!) and an 8-megapixel ‘rear’ camera. No mention of megapixelage for the front facer; we’d assume/hope for at least 1.3.

Other specs listed include the usual micro USB port, an HDMI connection and a 1GHz Texas Instruments OMAP 4430 chip – not Nvidia’s Tegra 2 as seen in the Atrix and Xoom.

So we’d also assume from this HD video recording (at at least 720p) and HD video playback.

Motorola’s presence has always been stronger on it’s home turf in the US so there’s a strong possibility that this beast won’t ever make it to these rain-soaked and soggy shores.

One way or another, Motorola wouldn’t confirm or deny whether the Droid HD, which we guess would be called the Milestone HD here, would be coming out in the US or anywhere else.
