The first picture of the Motorola Atrix 2, follow-up to – you guessed it – the Motorola Atrix, has appeared online courtesy of BGR.
Aesthetically, the Atrix 2 is much the same as it ever was – all black shiny plastic and rounded edges. Under the hood meanwhile, Motorola have packed in either a 1.2 or 1.5GHz dual-core processor, an 8MP camera with 1080p video capture and Android Gingerbread 2.3.5, according to BGR’s source. We’re also curious about what that conveniently-placed piece of paper in the photo is covering up. Could Motorola be hiding some kind of new docking connector on the world’s second docking smartphone? Colour us intrigued.
An updated Motorola Atrix running Gingerbread will be spiky news for current-gen Atrix owners, who have been stuck with Google’s old-hat FroYo version of Android since the handset launched back in January. While an end-of-year release is reportedly on the cards for the Atrix 2, here’s hoping Moto don’t forget about current Atrix owners in the interim.
