Music mag NME gets its own iPhone app

UK music mag NME now has its own app for iPhone and iPod touch. Costing £1.19, it offers a mix of news, video interviews and photos of all your favourite bands.

(Well, as long as they’ve been photographed by the NME – sorry Max Bygraves fans…)

It looks like the application takes inspiration from the Guardian’s excellent app, with its personalisation aspects. You can tag artists that you like, to get alerts when there’s news about them. Meanwhile, there’s also an offline browsing mode, and the option to share stories via Twitter and Facebook.

One thing lacking: music. It’d be nice if streaming music was included in apps like this, so you could listen to the bands you’re reading about. Or perhaps the app could just link in with other apps like Spotify – but this is just version 1.0 of the NME app, so perhaps that’s in its plans for the future.

The app went live late last night on the App Store, so is downloadable now.
