New BlackBerry Torch 9860 and Torch 9810 get UK release

We may have seen them leak before today’s official announcement, but BlackBerry maker RIM has gone official, the 9860 and 9810 will both arrive in the UK.

The two phones will join the Bold 9900 in being the first three devices to arrive with BlackBerry OS 7, it’s latest and greatest software platform, said to boost internet browsing speed by 40% compared to the previous version.

The BlacBerry Torch 9860 has a 3.7-inch touch screen, shirking BB’s trademark physical keyboard.

Both phones pack a 1.2GHz processor, NFC capabilities and are also capable of HD video-recording and 5-megapixel stills, complementing the Wikitude browser, an augmented reality search function that uses the camera to find “just about everything” – including nearby friends on BBM messenger.

The BlackBerry Torch 9810 has both a 3.2-inch touch screen and a slide-out keyboard, hoping to have its keyboard cake and eat it.

We’re at the official launch this morning and will be bringing you more pictures, hands-on impressions and details soon, including networks set to offer the new additions to the BlackBerry family.
