Nintendo 3DS ‘snakeskin’ Metal Gear Solid edition inbound

Fans of Metal Gear Solid may soon be able to get their hands on a limited edition version of Nintendo’s portable 3D console clad in faux snakeskin.

Writing on his Twitter feed Hideo Kojima Vice President of Konami Computer Entertainment displayed a picture of the device, revealing it was the industry’s first embossed snake patten finish.

The move ties in with the release of Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D on the Nintendo 3DS, which is set for 2012. The game is an updated version of the PlayStation 2 hit, designed specifically to take advantage of the portable consoles stereoscopic graphics.

There’s no news on the launch date, but according too Hideo further information, along with pricing is set to be revealed on January 20th in Japan.

What do you think of the snakeskin Nintendo 3DS? It’s certainly different, and fans will either love it or hate it, at the moment we’re in the latter camp, but it’s hard to say without actually seeing the device.
