Nokia Design concept video predates iPhone and Android features

Remember when Nokia used to rule the world when it came to mobile phones?

Well a video showing off a range of concepts for a Nokia handset suggests that if the company had stuck with those ideas it wouldn’t have been so quickly replaced in users’ hearts and minds by Apple and Android.

Created in 2006, and shown off in 2007 – the same year Apple’s iPhone was released to the world – the Nokia device contains some very familiar concepts.

Gesture control to unlock features, a carousel-style interface to view images, augmented reality software that displays stars in the sky – the only item that seems to have been incorporated into a Nokia phone back then is the twisting screen that appeared on the N93 handset.
