Nokia is seeing green ahead of this year’s Mobile World Congress

Nokia’s social feeds have been painted a flash of Android-like green, presumably hinting at the impending arrival of the heavily rumoured Nokia Normandy.

Head to Nokia’s US Facebook page, or its UK Facebook page, or practically any major Facebook page bearing the company’s name and you’ll immediately be greeted by green, lots of green. Although the purpose of this new campaign remains unclear, the internet is ablaze with speculation surround the company’s first Android device, the Nokia Normandy and its ties to this new lick of paint.

Nokia goes green

Nokia’s strategy relating to an Android phone still remains uncertain, but we’re expecting a clearer picture to take shape at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, which kicks off at the end of the month. Nokia’s MWC presence in recent years has played host to the arrival of devices like the 808 PureView and the Nokia Lumia 720 – never flagships in their own right, but promising phones nonetheless.

The main alternative idea as pointed out by PocketNow is Nokia’s green-backed MWC invitation, headlined by an offer to “Meet us under the tree.” Could we see a greater focus on eco-friendly phones from the Finns in 2014.

On the other side of the Nokia rumour mill, GSMArena picked up that @evleaks-like Twitter feed @NextLeaks has spilled some beans surrounding other new Lumias potentially in the pipeline. There’s the Lumia 930, supposedly a 2.2GHz quad-core powered Windows Phone 8.1 device with 2GB of RAM, 16GB of onboard storage, microSD expandability, a 2700mAh battery and a 20-megapixel snapper, no doubt similar to the one found on the Lumia 1520.

Further down the list is the Lumia 630 – a 4.3-inch WVGA display toting Windows Phone with specs similar to the Lumia 720, albeit with a larger 8-megapixel camera and a 2000mAh battery.
