Nokia introduce budget dual-SIM handset

Despite not having taken off in the UK, dual-SIM handsets are still a big part of Nokia’s master plan. At Nokia World this year we were introduced to the Nokia Asha 200, a cheap and cheerful dual-SIM QWERTY. To complement the Asha 200, today Nokia anounced the its X2-02, a music-centric phone with number pad and Easy Swap Dual SIM, perfect for cost / friend / music management.

Despite its budget pricing, the Nokia X2-02 features an internal FM antenna, MP3 player, dedicated music keys, recording capability, an in-built loudspeaker for music playback and up to 32GB of memory space via micro SD card.

Packing a feature Nokia call Easy Swap, you can easily manage as many as five SIM card profile using a dedicated SIM manager, no turning off or rebooting your phone necessary, mighty useful for anyone with a split personality, bygamistic tendencies or indeed more than one SIM card.

The Nokia X2-02 comes in five colours – Bright Red, Dark Silver, Orange, Violet and Ocean Blue measuring in at 113 x 50 x 15 mm and it weighs 93g including the battery. The display is 2.2 inches, which is dinky by todays standards, but at 240×320 pixels, it’s pretty sharp. Finally – on the reverse you’ll find the fixed focus 2-megapixel camera.

Costing EUR 60, with competitive pricing and a respectable feature-set for a feature-phone, we can certainly see the appeal of the Nokia X2-02. While there’s been no word on a UK release, we’ve put the question to Nokia and will update this when we’ve got something concrete – watch this space.
