Nokia’s Facebook page currently showing a countdown clock, and with just over a day to go, it looks set to reveal “something new” very soon. Tomorrow, in fact.
It’s something new for Symbian phones, which may temper some readers’ enthusiasm, but most signs point to the official unveiling of Symbian Belle – the next step in Nokia’s ageing smartphone platform.
The Symbian Anna update has barely arrived on the Nokia N8 as an update, and whilst many of the features of Anna were a little underwhelming, it’s good to see the phone giant attempt to fill in the gaps and solve the problems the OS arrived with.
Whether Symbian Belle will be shown alongside some new hardware seems unlikely- Nokia have now committed to putting everything smartphone-ish into the forthcoming MeeGo-based Nokia N9 and Windows Phone 7 offerings.
We’ll be reporting on the new Symbian, er, news when it’s revealed Wednesday afternoon.
Still got the Symbian love? Tell us what you’d like to see in Belle.
