Nokia’s Windows RT tablet leaked, September 26th announcement reiterated

Earlier this month, we heard whispers that Nokia would soon announce a tablet running Windows RT. The Verge has now confirmed with “sources familiar with the matter” that Nokia is indeed working on such a tablet, and that the company may formerly reveal it on September 26th.

According to the publication, Nokia’s tablet will include a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor along with LTE connectivity. The Verge didn’t provide any other specifications, but past rumours have suggested that the device will be around 10-inches in size and feature a 1366×768 display. The design of Nokia’s slate may fall in line with its Lumia devices too, with WPCentral’s source saying earlier this month that it will be “very much in the same style as their Lumia phones with bright colours and rounded corners.”

And that seems to have been confirmed by a leaked picture of the tablet. Photos of the purported tablet have been posted to Chinese site Digiwo, showing what looks to be an enormous Lumia design in bright red. The tablet will almost certainly include LTE connectivity as well, with Verizon’s 4G logo clearly visible at the bottom of the chassis. Digiwo says, however, that the resolution of the tablet may actually be 1920×1080, clashing with previous information.

That September 26th launch date has been mentioned twice now, and the leaked pictures seem to be authentic. All that’s left is for Nokia to send out invites to its event – we’ll let you know as soon as it does.
