Gameloft has developed some of the highest quality mobile shooters on the scene and the latest addition to its growing library of titles is the much anticipated N.O.V.A. 3. The first-person sci-fi shooter series that’s leading the pack with its impressive visuals on mobile devices came to iOS devices at the start of last month. The publisher assured Android users that the hit title would also be arriving on compatible devices at the start of June and they’ve been spot on with its arrival on the Google Play store today.
N.O.V.A. 3 is the latest and greatest in the series, with a continuation of the Captain Kal Wardin’s storyline through space and across strange worlds. Visuals are pushed to new heights, with Crysis-esq levels of polish, especially when you consider the game is running on a mobile device. Our time with the iOS version revealed unusual inconsistencies between the iPad 2 and the iPad 3, which in fact rendered the iPad 2’s presentation of the game superior. It’ll be interesting to see, with such a vast array of compatible devices, where Gameloft spent the time to leverage device hardware and optimisation.
If you’re an Android-based mobile gamer, N.O.V.A. 3 is available now on devices running Android 2.2 Froyo and up. Bear in mind that with its large file download of 2GB, it’s worth making sure you’re near a capable wireless network before commencing the download.
