O2 are nearly ready to release the PlayStation phone , the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play, following a new phone update from Sony Ericsson.
O2, who will exclusively offer a white edition of the Xperia Play, decided not to sell it alongside the other networks on release day, following the discovery of several bugs while testing. Several other networks also suffered delays due to a “freight issues”.
Now they’ve posted an update on their blog, explaining that the phone is is nearing the end of testing.
Stuart Hibberd, the head of O2’s testing team, said: “At the end of March I let you know that, after a period of intense testing, we’d found bugs with the Sony Ericsson Xperia PLAY that meant we couldn’t launch the phone on April 1st as we originally planned.”
“Since then we’ve received new software from Sony Ericsson which we’ve been testing here and, I’m happy to report, it has fixed a lot of the bugs that would have stopped our customers having a great experience when they use the PLAY. This is an important milestone for us and means the PLAY is nearly ready to go on sale.”
So it’s coming soon. Again. We’ll make sure to let you know when the white PlayStation phone finally gets a release date.
