Official Google Reader app for Android drops down in Market

Just after My Taptu for Android updated to allow Google Reader support, Mountain View goes ahead and released a standalone Google Reader app for Android phones.

As you’d expect, Google Reader allows you to check your Google Reader subscriptions straight from your Android phone whenever you want. So no more waiting for your laptop to turn on in the mornings.

While there’ve been a few unofficial Reader apps populating the Market its good to finally have the real deal, all official and everything. This update comes a couple of weeks after Google launched its new Google Docs editor for mobiles; more and more useful Google services are coming to mobiles all the time.

The Google Reader app “should run on Donut and higher” and can be downloaded from the Market now, for free.
