Opera Mini 5 and Opera Mobile 10 available now

The fat lady can’t stop singing it seems. This is the third time in three weeks that Opera has released new versions of its mobile internet browsers. Full versions of Opera 5 Mini and Opera Mobile 10 are now available to download on virtually every mobile phone out there.

Opera Mini 5 is available to download now for BlackBerry phones and any phone running on Java. There are also beta versions of Opera Mini 5 available for Android and Windows Mobile phones – the full version has yet to be rolled out to these platforms.

Windows Mobile users that can’t wait for the full version can instead download Opera Mobile 10, which is available on Windows Mobile and Symbian S60-based mobile phones.

Both Opera Mini 5 and Opera Mobile 10 allow users to make use of the ‘Speed Dial’ feature – which sets out your Favourites in a nice graphical grid – as well as tabbed browsing. Opera Mini 5 and Opera Mobile 10 both compress web pages to both improve page loading time and reduce the dent that web browsing makes on your data plan.

The differences between the two browsers are negliable. We’ve had a play around with Opera Mini 5 on an HTC Magic (running Android) and a Nokia E71 (running Symbian S60) and found that, aside from differences in hardware, the actual browsing experience was remarkably similar in terms of speed and functionality.

Both Opera Mini 5 and Opera Mobile 10 are free to download today. On your phone head over to m.opera.com/ or click here www.opera.com/mobile/ to find out more.

There’s not yet a version of Opera Mini or Opera Mobile for the iPhone – but since it was announced at Mobile World Congress, we’re expecting it to arrive on the App Store soon.
