Browsing the Web on most phones is so bad that we’ve seen people throw their phones against walls in fits of anger when trying to browse even simple websites. What most of those people don’t realise is that there is a solution — it’s called Opera Mini and it’s a free third party web browser.
According to the independent app store, GetJar, Opera Mini is officially the world’s most downloaded app from any app store to date, having been downloaded over 25 million times from its store. Opera Mini is a Java-based app that works on almost every mobile phone out there, including Nokia handsets.
Opera told us that in July 2009 nearly 29.1 million people used Opera Mini and viewed more than 12 billion pages. It also added that the top ten countries for Opera Mini usage are (in order): Russia, Indonesia, India, China, Ukraine, South Africa, United States, Nigeria, Germany and Poland.
Here at Recombu HQ we use it on almost every phone we get in because it delivers such a fast and effective service, which is a rare thing to say about a Java-based app. If you’ve never tried it before and yearn for a better browsing experience on your phone then download it here.
