Panasonic joining the Android party: Smartphones heading to UK in 2012

Mobile phones aren’t the first product to spring to mind when you mention Panasonic, not since the company retreated its phone output back to Japan in 2002.

But now, given the rise of the smartphone and particularly Android, Panasonic has announced its intention to get back into the international smartphone game. Its first Android handsets are due to hit Japanese shelves in early 2011, with a re-entry to the UK market following in 2012.

We’ll be vaguely pleased to welcome Panasonic phones back, provided they’ve come on a bit since the models on the right.
