THQ Wireless has released version 2.0 of its Star Wars: Trench Run iPhone game, with new missions and ships, including the Millennium Falcon and Darth Vader’s Advanced TIE Fighter.
The original game sees you fulfilling your Star Wars dreams, dogfighting with TIE Fighters above the Death Star’s surface, before blowing the whole shebang up with a carefully aimed torpedo or two. New missions include helping Princess Leia escape to a Rebel base in the Falcon, as well as a Han Solo arcade challenge where you’re protecting three Y-wings from the enemy hordes.
However, Star Wars nuts will love another new feature: the ability to play the Trench Run game on your PC monitor, controlled by your iPhone or iPod touch. It’s due to a technology called Brass Monkey, which lets you use your iOS device as a wireless controller. The game itself is hosted on the StarWars.com website.
Yep, that’s right: a Trench Run on your big screen, controlled by your iOS device. If that doesn’t deliver geek thrills, I don’t know what will.
