The long-awaited PlayStation Suite looks set to be arriving early next year. Sony has announced that the SDK for the Suite would be arriving in November, with the first titles expected to arrive the following Spring.
The Suite is a portal through which you’ll be able to buy PlayStation games and related content on selected devices including the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play, the Sony S1 and Tablet P and the PlayStation Vita.
This is different from the portal through which you can currently buy games like Minecraft: Pocket Edition and BackStab on the Xperia Play; essentially a page with links to all of the Xperia Play-optimised games on the Android Market.
Can has FFVII pl0x?
Additionally, Sony has also said that more PS1 classics will be arriving for ‘PlayStaion Certified’ devices, a range which includes the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play and the S1 and Tablet P.
These will be arriving at the end of October, with no word on exactly what games will be getting ported. Our fingers and thumbs are crossed for Final Fantasy VII.
We’ve already had some of our Xperia Play wishes granted in the form of Kula World and Wipeout, but the more games available the better. We’re also hoping that existing PS1 games get graphics upscaled and refined for mobile devices. Some of them, Crash Bandicoot in particular, haven’t translated to the small screen that well.
Our PS1/Xperia Play wishlist hasn’t changed that much, aside from the launch of the games mentioned above. What games are you dying to see on the Xperia Play and other Certified devices? Let us know in the comments.
