Quad-core iPad 3 to launch next week, according to CNBC

The promised time is almost upon us, friends: the iPad 3 launch is immiment.

CNBC are reporting that the iPad 3 will launch next week, with a quad-core processor and 4G LTE connectivity. Apple are allegedly going to hold an event in New York City where the iPad 3 will be unveiled.

That’s another rumour in favour of a quad-core iPad 3 as opposed to an improved dual-core A5 processor, as has also been rumoured. Other specs are said to include a 9.7-inch “Retina” display, with a resolution of 2048×1536, iOS 5.1, and improved cameras. The chassis is also said to be slightly thicker to accommodate the display and upgraded internals.

We’ll know soon enough. Hang tight, and don’t buy a new iPad. That would be an expensive mistake right now.

UPDATE: The Verge are reporting that the iPad 3 event will not take place in New York.
