There’s been rumblings for a while that EA were porting a “Theme” game from Bullfrog’s extensive back-catalogue for the iPhone and iPad.
Whilst we hoped and prayed for Theme Hospital to make its way over, it looks like Theme Park is the first to appear, and it does so with a full 3D rejuvenation.
EA revealed Theme Park at at Gamescom in Cologne, Germany, last week, explaining that there would be a new payment model, new mechanics and even new rides, inspired by other EA gaming properties, like Mass Effect.
The other big news is that it will be available for free at launch on both the iPhone and iPad;
though alongside in-game money, you can expand your park with real-life money through in-app payments. Rides will be interactive – one example being the ability to poke the in-game bouncy castle.
We can expect to see the game arrive later in the year, offering cloud-based saving and sharing that’ll arrive with the official launch of iOS 5.
